Traveler’s Destination: Dublin, Ireland- Brittney F.

Brittney F. studied abroad during the fall semester 2016 at one of our partner universities, Maynooth University. While she was in Ireland, her favorite place to visit was Dublin. Here is what she had to say about her go-to places to visit!:

Dublin is one of the most attractive, popular cities in the Republic of Ireland. Dublin is located on the eastern coast, with a population greater than 1,000,000 people. Not only is this country beautiful, but it is a country rich in history, unique architecture, and cultural diversity.

Dublin is a large city with so much to do and so much to see. Filled with a variety of restaurants, upbeat night life, and some of the best shopping in all of Ireland, Dublin is a city that should not go un-visited. Some of my favorite places in Dublin were the Brazenhead pub, the Clarence Hotel, and Trinity College.

The Brazenhead is Irelandโ€™s oldest pub, with a very welcoming environment and friendly service. Not to mention, the food is excellent. I visited the Clarence Hotel for brunch on a Sunday. This was a beautiful hotel that offered a 2 course brunch and excellent service. It definitely earned a spot on my top favorite places in Dublin. Trinity College was one of the last places in Dublin that I visited before returning to the states. There is so much about Trinity College that makes it such an interesting place to visit but the part that really blows you away is the Book of Kells at the Trinity College Library. There is so much in Dublin to be fascinated by, but only do you truly understand what itโ€™s like when you visit!

As the capital of Ireland, Dublin can easily be reached by bus from Maynooth University (it’s only a 45-minute ride!). Studying abroad in England or Scotland? Catch an inexpensive flight from Edinburgh, Liverpool, or London to Dublin!
