While you’re on your study abroad trip, you might wind up in a lot of different places. There is no way that you can keep track of everything. There are many times where you think back on your trip and you realize “Oh, I did do that.” It may seem crazy now, but just you wait.
One of the best ways to keep track of your travels, or to begin your own travel map, you should create a travel map. A travel map is exactly what it sounds like: a map documenting where you have been in the world.
There are several ways to do this. You could do what the picture above shows by getting a map and sticking small pins in the cities that you have traveled to. It’s the traditional way of creating a map, but also dangerous and annoying if you have to move and have to pull the pins out. Another way is to get a scratch-off map (such as this one from Etsy). This is a fun and colorful way to keep track of all of the countries that you’ve visited. Beware of the mess that comes with scratch-offs though!
Using a journal can also be a way to keep track of your travels. Choose a travel journal that is light and fits into your bag so you can take it everywhere! Once you get home, you can easily transfer your travel information from your journal to the travel map of your choice.
No matter what you choose, this is a great way to document your study abroad experience.
